The Sunbird Lounge in Temasek Shophouse is designed as an airy, light-filled extension of its courtyard with lush greenery.
Centred on dialogue and creation, the glass display embodies the theme Design and Made in Singapore. As a curated showcase of drinking vessels that brings together contemporary artists and ceramists who live and work in Singapore, as well as internationally based Singaporean artists, it draws on the relationship between conversations, creation and rituals of drinking. The curatorial approach foregrounds diversity, besides artistic backgrounds, techniques, and forms, but also in the confluence of narratives through which artists engage themes of place, memory, transmutation, and continuity. Placed side by side, this assemblage forms a spectrum that spans from quiet reflection to conceptual exploration, underscoring the absence of a singular creative ethos, embracing instead a constellation of approaches and ideas.

Ping-An Home is a jumbo HDB apartment formed by merging two adjacent three-room units from the 1970s. Reimagined around the original beams and columns, the layout creates distinct spaces for daily rituals. The result is a light-filled, breathable home designed to evolve with the owner’s aspirations.

The interior arrangement of this house was previously fragmented into various enclosed spaces, stacked upon one another, with a narrow stairwell leading to each of these rooms.
To reimagine the dwellers’ experiences in a more connected living arrangement, the entire house was pared down to an empty state. We focused on the idea of connecting the different types of spaces through the composition of geometries and openings to create a breathable and spacious environment.
On ground level, the outdoors is introduced from the front yard into the living hall and the activity basement, connecting the three spaces through a distinct use of the terracotta floor material. The living hall’s tall vertical volume is architecturally expressed by the juxtaposition of the round mezzanine sitting above a timber block that housed the kitchen. On the upper floors, walls and openings are orchestrated along the stairs, leading to a curved surface that filters in soft natural daylight from the roof window, culminating the sensory experience of feeling light and space at home.
The composition of openings recur throughout the design, to express connectedness and privacy, movements and stillness, light and shadows.

This is our second spatial design for Thoughtworks, following their previous office completed in 2017. For the new office, Thoughtworks required a dedicated client engagement area, with the challenge of clearly separating client-facing spaces from everyday work areas in a sociable yet professional way.
The design introduces a central “hub” to host clients, equipped with essential amenities. These include meeting rooms of various sizes, booth seating, a breakout lounge, quiet rooms for private calls, and a presentation arena. Surrounding this, the Thoughtworkers’ work zones remain agile and flexible, with small meeting spaces and discussion areas in close proximity to support a highly collaborative workflow. Focus rooms and lounges are strategically placed to accommodate quiet work and calls.
Overall, the space creates a refreshing and sociable environment that comprehensively supports the needs of an efficient and enjoyable workday.
